When Sydney and Sam saw my pictures, they had a few comments.
Sydney told me that she thought Jorge was MY boyfriend. LOL I don't know where she got that idea.
She also told me that I looked "fat" in the striped dress, which I did. She should have seen the other lady who was wearing it the next day! It made me feel a little better.
Sam couldn't believe that I didn't hold the snake. He said he loves snakes.
Sam said he wants to go there too. He says that every time I go on a trip. He's very easy to please.

September 2
Debit Card Update
I didn't get a chance to call the bank until lunch time because I was so busy with new Execs at work.
When I finally called, I was thankful that the bank is implementing a new policy that you have to call them before going out of the country in order to prevent identity theft. I was thankful, but annoyed because I wasn't notified. They said they are still in the process of communicating this new policy.
At least my identity wasn't stolen and my money was just as I left it.

September 1, Day 5
7:00 a.m. wake-up call!
Breakfast
We also ordered room service, which was prompt and accurate. We had enough pastries to bring some along on the airplane.
They came to pick up our luggage and we were on our way.
Check-Out
Check-out was fast also. We checked out with the same person who checked us in.
Departure
We only waited about 5 minutes before it was time to go. Just as we were leaving, I ran into Christian, the Business Development Manager, who I met at the Funjet Trade Show. We chatted for a few minutes. I told him that I would follow-up with him via e-mail.
Airport
Very smooth....we got row 8 - both aisle seats. No line at security either. We sailed through.
We got a Starbucks and went down to our gate.
The obnoxious chicks from the way there arrived much later. They were there same obnoxious selves and they were drinking too! We were glad to hear that they were sitting in the back of the plane (except for a couple of them).
Arrival
Again, we made it in record time (thanks to the same Pilot). When we arrived at the airport, Dani was already waiting for us.
I uploaded the remainder of my pictures onto my laptop during the drive.
Unpacking
I was too tired to unpack everything and was also feeling too fat. So, I took Harley & Daisy for a walk instead.

Day 4 - August 31st
Breakfast
Breakfast as usual at the buffet. I got up enough nerve to taste the juice with cactus and celery. I don't know how anyone could drink a whole glass, but it was fine to sample.
Main Pool
I finished my book and Mandy did her word search.
Beach
Mandy and I wanted to sail today, but due to the storm yesterday, there were too many waves and currents.
When we got to the beach, we discovered why they told us that. Apparently, the storm washed up so many rocks and shells and they were all over the beach. We collected a whole bunch of really neat ones. I couldn't believe the piles of conch shells everywhere. It was really too rocky to walk now.
Main Pool
Then, I drove up to the pool bar on my raft & got a Miami Vice. I never even got off my raft.
Mandy was lounging on a chair in the pool, and I went to walk the beach again.
I ran into the couple from LA and we talked a bit. Then, I collected more shells & ran into a couple from Toronto who has been at the Valentin 3 times already.
When I returned, Mandy was ready for lunch. Usually, I'm the one prompting her. LOL
Lunch
The buffet was our lunch option again. Muy bueno!
Blogging
Now, we are here blogging in the lobby with a gecko hanging over our heads on the curtains. Mandy thinks he's sleeping. At least the lobby is air conditioned.
Mandy is having Webkinz withdrawals. She likes to do stuff on their Web site, but hasn't been able to during our trip.
Back to the Pool
We couldn't wait to get back to the pool. It's how every day life should be! We could definitely get used to that.
Dinner
I can't even fit into my clothes, but Mandy and I said we were going to go to 3 different restaurants!
We started out at the French for our main course. The French was a little foo foo for us, but our entree's were good. Mandy had the Salmon and I had the Chateaubriand. The restaurant is very beautiful.
Dessert
Mandy wanted Chicken & Beef Satays again for an appetizer and I wanted to try the Fried Tempura Ice Cream for Dessert, so we went to the Japanese next. The watier was quite surprised that we only ordered the appetizer. It also was a little difficult communicating to him that I didn't want peanut sauce on it. I think we frustrated him a bit, but in the end, it turned out okay. I had green tea and we ordered the Ice Cream. It was like a giant, deep fried cream puff.
Italian
Just kidding....we could not fit in any more food. We really wanted some pasta, but our eyes are bigger than our stomachs (or, at least they were before we arrived).
Latin Show
Our final show was different styles of latin dancing. Naturally, they also show a lot of skin.
Packing
We went back to our room and packed. I wrapped all of my shells in toilet paper so that I could smuggle them back home. I stuffed them everywhere.
We also ordered room service for the next morning.

Day 3 - August 30th
Breakfast
Same place, different day. We enjoy the buffet choices. Good variety and we can go at our own pace.
Tour Day
Weather didn't look too good. It was thundering and drizzled some before we left.
We had a golf cart drive us to the highway where we took the collectivo with the loco driver to Playa Del Carmen. While we were waiting for the Tulum collectivo to fill up, Mandy had a melt down because she did not like taking public transportation with the locals. She said that she would have been okay with a limo. I didn't know what to do with a crying person in a collectivo (and neither did the Mexicans).
Hidden Worlds
Hidden Worlds is near Tulum. This is where we were going to do the Sky Cycle. It also included Rapelling & Ziplining. The ride to the area was long and bumpy. We were with a couple from London who were very funny. They called each other "darling" all the time.
We had to wait in the restaurant about 20 minutes because it poured. Next was Ziplining. They almost had me convinced until I went to the top and saw how high it was and heard Mandy scream. I chickened out and so did they guy from London. We said we were just there to sky cycle.
Rapelling into a cenote was next. Everyone did it except me. That in no way looked fun. I couldn't believe that Mandy was afraid on the collectivo, but would go down a freakin' rope into a cave full of bat pee & poop. Sounds like so much fun.
We just wanted to sky cycle. Finally, we got the opportunity. I said I would go last so I wouldn't hold up the show, but that was a mistake. The couple from London kept stopping for no apparent reason. It was different. After going to the Zoo, we were paranoid about snakes ('cuz we also saw a giant Boa Constrictor at Hidden Worlds). We kept a watchful eye.
When we made it to the cave, the couple from London stayed to snorkel in the bat pee & poop while we decided to cycle back. I now went first and was getting showered in blue insulation-like material from the line. I asked Mandy if she had the same. It was cool 'cuz we got to go through the caves on the way back, but our butts touched the bat pee & poop. There was one part that was so difficult, I didn't think I could make it. I had to keep telling myself that I could. At the end, Mandy said the same thing, so I felt relieved. However, she was not covered in blue like I was!
I can't believe that Mandy was so freaked out. I think she's only adventurous with Brian. It was her idea to go there. Mary Jo does nothing like that. What a day she had!
We took a collectivo back to Playa, but I promised Mandy that we would take a taxi from Playa to the resort. We wanted to do a little shopping, but the weather did not cooperate. I think Gustav played a role in that. It downpoured so hard, that we could not stay outside and the streets were flooded. Mandy was not happy, but we ducked into Rolandi's and I got pizza 'cuz my head hurt from not eating all day. Mandy was afraid to eat outside the resort. She is a typical American tourist. I called her "Karen Pellettieri." My friend Omar showed up for work and recognized me right away. It was nice seeing him again.
Transformation
Mandy was totally better once we arrived back at the resort. She said she's one of those people who would just stay at the resort.
Debit Card
My debit card did not work twice, so I'm a little concerned that someone got a hold of my number. There is no 24 hour number and there is nothing I can do until I return because of the weekend and holiday. That is going to stink!
Dinner
We went to the steak house by the ocean for dinner. That was a good meal. Mandy tried some melted Provolone cheese and pita for an appetizer, which she really liked. That's the good thing about All-Inclusives.
Vegas Show?
The theme of the evening show was Las Vegas, but they had one showgirl scene and then it turned into a mish-mosh of I don't know what. We were looking at each other with confused expressions. We know that these people have never been to Las Vegas. They had 50's, Tango, and Mexican dancing....none of which are Las Vegas style. We decided to leave.
We stayed up till 2:00 a.m. talking.

Day 1 - August 28th & Day 2 - August 29th
DAY1
Arrival
The lobby is beautiful and check in was very smooth. Our room was ready (sorry Aunt Char)!
Our Room
Mandy was so excited that we got a swim-up suite. That's just what she wanted. See, Mandy? You are lucky! We also had a large sitting area and a Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom with beautiful copper tile.
Swim-Up Pool
First thing Mandy wanted to do was to check out the swim-up pool. It was very quiet and private. We checked out the swim-up bar too.
Dinner
There was a Mexican Fiesta, but Mandy didn't think she liked the options and she, like my Aunt Char, is anti-social. She said she doesn't like to sit with strangers.
We went to the Japanese restaurant, which was very nice. Portions were a bit small though.
The couple we met from California when we arrived were there. They told us to stop following them! Damn stalkers! LOL
We ended up checking out the Mexican Fiesta anyhow because we wanted some dessert. We totally got busted by the couple from California, but they were doing the same thing! We got a little more than dessert....the kabobs were delicious. The churros with caramel or chocolate sauce were so good.
We sat with the couple from California and a Podiatrist and his wife, who were from Arlington Heights, IL. It's such a small world! He told me that he could definitely do the bunion surgery on my feet and said that I need to have it done. I'm still in denial.
Mayan Show
We went to the evening show with the couple from California. Mandy didn't really like the sacrifices (deer or human?).
DAY 2
Breakfast
The buffet is our breakfast option and they made some great omelettes. They also have a crepe station with Nutella. Yum! The juice choices are plentiful and some are very unique (like spinach or beets!). I like the Apple, Banana, Strawberry, & OJ combo.
Collectivo
Mandy couldn't believe that you catch the public bus by standing anywhere on the highway. It was fast though. Coming back, we couldn't find a bus going South, so we got a taxi. He was very nice and took us all the way in to the resort.
Crococun Zoo
The zoo was interesting. Mandy held a crocodile, snake, and a pink bearded dragon that felt like a basketball. I don't do reptiles! A Parrot named Anna kissed us though. I liked the hairless dog, but we couldn't pet it. We fed the monkeys and Mexican raccoons. We also got to go in and feed and pet the deer. Our guide was very nice and is learning to be a Vet. He wants to specialize in snakes because he got bit by a poisonous coral snake that someone put in the wrong tank and he almost died.
Lunch
We enjoyed lunch by the beach restaurant. They have a bruschetta bar, which Mandy liked.
Beach
Afterwards, we checked out the beach. There were beautiful, large houses between the Valentin Imperial Maya and the El Dorado Royale. Mandy stepped on a twig on the way back and her foot started bleeding.
Pool Bar
Mandy needed a drink after that incident. She never went to a pool bar before. She enjoyed her Frozen Amaretto Stone Sour. We floated around a bit before deciding to go back to the pool outside our room (since we didn't see our new friends anywhere).
Pool
We were walking the pool for our only exercise when we met another Travel Agent from Liberty Travel in New Jersey. We chatted for a little bit, then moved on.
We floated on our rafts and I asked our neighbor (a.k.a. Cabana Boy) to hand me my book. I think Mandy was a bit embarrassed. It's hard to leave the pool.
Pre-Dinner
Mandy & I went to the Sports bar. We were the only ones there. We played Connect Four, Darts that wouldn't stick, and Pool. Our bartender had a grill (as Mandy calls it) which means that she had gold teeth. Mandy wants to get those when she gets back home. They are a status symbol for the Mayans. Brian, save up your money!
We bought the photos that we took earlier with the resident Spider monkey.
Italian Restauarant
This was our favorite so far. Bread with olive oil and vinegar to start. The room was very pretty and the menu had so many options. We decided that if we didn't like something from that point on, that we would go there afterwards.
We didn't like the desserts, however, so we went to the Steak House by the beach. Mandy was in search of chocolate. I actually ordered off of the menu for the Seafood restaurantant and had the Key Lime Pie. Mandy had Brownie a la mode.
Tortuga Release
At 8:00 p.m., they had a turtle release (no pics as they would make the turtles run the wrong way). They were so tiny and we all stood in a line and released them into the sand at the same time and hoped they'd run into the ocean. It was so dark, it was hard to see. We had to name them too....Mandy named hers ChyBri and I named mine Ben. Ben was a little slow to go into the ocea. I guess that he was afraid of the Barracudas who were waiting for their dinner.
Amigos in Playa Del Carmen
Annemarie picked us up at 9:30 p.m. to go to Playa. Her driving made us want to throw up. Stop and go, stop and go.
We met Jorge and his new girlfriend from Portugal/Africa and her brother and his girlfriend who just arrived there. (She worked at the Gran Bahia Principe Coba too.)
We sat on 5th Avenue and had some Coca Cola Lights. The big drinkers that we are! Mandy was surprised by the area and said it was like Bourbon Street. It was fun to visit and catch up with Annemarie and Jorge again.
Jorge took his girlfriend's family back to the Blue Bay then came back to meet some more friends.
Annemarie drove us back to the resort and I think her driving was even worse on the way back. I thought Mandy was going to lose i and blow chunks.
Midnight Buffet
We stopped at the Midnight buffet because I wanted some tea. We grabbed a piece of pizza and I got my tea to go because it was freezing in the buffet. They are so accommodating at the Valentin.
Room Service
We were joking about ordering room service, but we didn't.

Nutrisystem After Mexico
I'm wearing my fat bathing suit on this trip. I'm so grossed out by my excessive cellulite and giant stomach. Why do I work out so hard?
As soon as I return from this trip, I am ordering Nutrisystem again.
Mandy and I are bringing our workout clothes on this trip to and we plan on walking the beach. Hope no one takes a picture of this beached whale like I take pictures of them in their Speedos!

Amigas in Mexico
Mandy and I are going to the Valentin Imperial Maya from August 30-September 1, 2008. She already promised me that she won't wear jeans there! LOL
I can't wait for her to see my favorite destination. I know she's going to love it.
